In Dinertown Tycoon, you'll move through 5 restaurant districts, building business by creating your menu, purchasing ingredients at the best price during fluctuating market conditions, selling your specialties at premium, average or sale prices, utilizing advertising, upgrading decor, and getting to know your customer preferences, all in order to seek profitability, regain your neighborhood, and putting Grub Burger out of business!
Along the way, you will assist the following businesses in Dinertown...
Squid Row Diners: Darla's Sidewalk Cafe, Wrangler Restaurant Research: Costs $50 per customer except for Jo the Jogger, cost is $1, first level only Goal: Feed each customer 50 times.
Avenue Flo Diners: Flo's Diner, Margarita's Cantina Research: Costs $100 per customer. Goal: Feed each customer 50 times.
Bistro Bay Diners: The Submarine, Toshiro's Japanese Grill, Odessa Research: Costs $150 per customer. Goal: Feed each customer 50 times.

The entire tutorial will be there all at once. PF players often skip the tutorials but this one is highly recommended so that you know all of the hints and tips before you proceed too far into the game.

Goal 1. Review customer progress, analyze which customers you need to focus on. 2. Consider researching customer favorites....or check out our charts below. 3. Check Grub Burgers progress. Consider meeting Daily Chef Challenges if you need to halt their progress.
News 1. Crowds Today range from 1 thru 4- Supply your restaurants based on demand. 2. Daily Demands- Recommends what items you should stock up on. 3. Daily Chef Challenge- You receive no points for completing this, however, it does push back Grub Burgers advance on your Goal tab.
Overview Tells you the best selling menu item of all time vs. yesterday; happy customers vs. unhappy customers; total $.
Menu See current menu items; hover mouse over grocery bag to see necessary ingredients; hover mouse over guest check to see how many sold, ran out of ingredients, too expensive; click a covered dish to reveal other menu items and necessary ingredients; add a menu item by sliding it into the stamp, slide other menu items back to the counter to remove them from menu; increase or decrease the menu price of any item to sale/regular/premium prices.
Ingredients Shows ingredients in stock; current market price;, # sold yesterday; total $ spent/remaining.
Decor Items for purchase to increase the attractiveness of your diners.
Neighborhood 1. Buy advertising- Some is stationary like billboards/radio stations. Others you can move around the neighborhood. 2. Buy other restaurants- This will give you the first menu item for free but you will need to buy the ingredients. Make sure you also have enough money for both. 3. Start of Day- This will invite customers into the restaurant district. 4. Make sure you remember to collect those gold coin tips above the happy customers heads! 5. Speed- You can adjust each day to move at a steady or quick pace. It's harder to collect tips when playing on the quicker pace.
The game progresses to the next restaurant district when you have successfully fed your customers the designated number of times before Grub Burger does. However, if Grub Burger feeds those customers first, the vial of Ingredient X will overflow with Grubs and you will need to replay before you can proceed.

Tip: No one favors Squid in Squid Row!! However, Jo The Jogger and Nervosa will both order it because it contains cheese if you have nothing else they like. You can keep this item off the menu unless you are having trouble moving either of these two customers along ....if you decide to take this route, you may also want to ignore the Daily Chef's Challenge that tells you to buy 20 squid as well as ignore the occasional Daily Demands suggesting that you stock up on squid since it won't sell....however, you may need to meet those Daily Chef's Challenges to push back Grub Burger's progress.
Customer Rewards For Completing Goal: Nervosa - $200 Chuck - new advertisement type Stella - $200 Tyler - 20 of an ingredient Jo the Jogger - new advertisement type Hal - 50 of an ingredient

i never played a tycoon game and i did purchase this one. ok, i admit i did it for the medals. i have no idea what i'm doing, this walkthrough is going to help so much.
Thanks, Rob! I had alot of fun with it, although Latte did more of the work than she is taking credit for. Hope you all find it useful. I'm using it myself to replay the game for the medals, lol!
I see more and more members asking for help on individual levels, and I don't have tips specific for any level but thought I would share here what helped me get through the game. Hoping others who have finished the game might want to share here also.
This is how I played the game; however, what works for me may not work for everyone. I have to keep notes. 3 pieces of paper in front of me for each location. One with the list of each customer's fav dishes (you can find that in the walkthrough), one to jot down the daily news (crowd, demand, challenge), and one to list ingredients for each recipe as you buy them (this helps know at a glance how much to restock of each item, making adjustment for how busy the crowd will be). Try to meet the daily challenge as much as practical. Don't buy too much too fast. Use your first few recipes over and over until you have a good bit of money built up. Don't buy the recipes that aren't customer favorites ~ they won't sell. Look at your menu after each day and adjust your prices (go up if no one thought it too expensive / go down if you lost sales due to the price). Take off any recipes that haven't sold in 3-4 days to minimize ingredients needed. I only bought the first sign for each restaurant, but always bought the ads (if you don't use the ads they will walk right past your restaurant and Grub Burger gets all the sales). Flo appears on Day 12 of each location so be sure to click on her for some free advertising. She also appears in later levels like 24,25. On slow days (1-2) don't buy any new recipes (or restaurants), and buy only minimal ingredients as you won't sell much and will need your funds to restock for the day after this. If you use all your funds for a slow day you may be stuck with no money when the day is done and will have to restart the location. Always buy your ingredients for the next day before buying anything else, making sure you can feed everyone. If you run out of food, Grub Burger gets that customer and your Grubmeter rises. This game requires alot of focus so don't play when tired. The result can be disastrous, lol.
If your Grubmeter is rising really high and you know the daily challenge is impossible for you to meet, you can exit to the main page of the game and then click on 'Play' to return to the game. The daily challenge will change (sometimes but not always the crowd # changes as well). If you have already started a day, and realize you are not going to meet the daily challenge or you have run out of ingredients and want to start the day over, just pause the game, quit, and start again. Your day will start over.
Many have asked questions about earning the two trophies for making $10,000 and $20,000. You have to earn this much in one location to earn the medal. I found it easier to earn them on Thyme Square ($10,000) and Champagne Falls ($20,000). Reason being, the food sells at higher prices and thus your earnings are larger. The food at the X3000 restaurant in Champagne Falls will earn you the highest dollar. Try to buy this as your second restaurant if possible. Only buy the recipes that are the favorites (listed separately in this walkthrough). I was able to earn $26,000 in this location just by following all the tips I have already listed above. If you have only one or two people left to make goal and they're getting too close without you having earned your medal yet, totally take off the recipes they like and use the favorite recipes of the ones that have already reached the goal as they will continue to eat and you'll continue to earn money. Try raising the prices to premium. If customers are still buying except for maybe just a few, then raise the price one notch higher each round. If more customers are buying than walking out, you'll still earn mega bucks. If too many are walking out and going to Grub Burger then reduce price back down one notch. Just make sure to meet your daily challenge if you have customers walking out, so that you can keep your grubmeter under control.
As for purchasing ingredients I always made sure I had at least 50 of the demand items on a busy day, about 35 on a day with crowd of 3, and 15 on a slow day. One thing to remember about the demand item. It may be sold in 3 to 4 recipes so you need to make sure you have the additional ingredients all stocked in the above numbers as well as the demand item. You need more of the demand item in stock if you have multiple recipes you're selling it in. If you're short of funds to buy all this, take off one or two of the recipes that sell the demand item for that given day. I sometimes did this in order to still have the funds to buy the advertising.
Hope these tips help some of you. As always, have fun and happy gaming!

I found it helpful to list which customer's absolutely favourite dish is... I'll go back and do the other locations when I've finished :)
Squid Row For most of these fussy customers, you can only match 2 favourite ingredients to a particular dish - and Nervosa only likes cheese! As the tutorial makes you buy Squid Cheese Sandwiches, stick with that choice for Nervosa and Chuck, as you then won't have to buy other recipes that match.
Hal - (3 ingredients matched) - Barn Burnin' Chili (the Wrangler) Tyler - (2 ingredients matched) - Jack's Fire Wings (the Wrangler) Nervosa - Squid Cheese Sandwich (Darla's Cafe) Jo - (2 ingredients matched) - Country Lemon Squares (the Wrangler) Chuck - (2 ingredients matched) - Squid Cheese Sandwich (Darla's Cafe) Stella - you can match 2 ingredients with 3 dishes, but I recommend Squid Row Cheesesteak which gives you the second dish to buy at Darla's Cafe.
Summary: ONLY buy the following recipes... (buy others to fulfill chef's challenge if you must, but not unless, it's a waste of money). Unless you want to buy all recipes in game of course, then spend as you want!
Hooray!! Finished it... #3 on the global high scores with 101,308 :)
score now 104,168
I'm playng through a second time to get all the recipes and that trophy... however because it takes longer, my score doesn't increase much.. I'll be replaying a THIRD time to try to get a higher score..
High scores are calculated by total money gained and fewest days for an area...

Does any body have the amount each of these recipes cost? I'd like to know so I can write it down. This way I know about how much money I need to have to buy it and have $ leftover for ingredients. Thanks.
Sorry, Belldandy, I didn't write down the cost of each recipe because once you are in the restaurant the prices are all shown on each one. The X3000 does have the most expensive recipes though if I remember correctly. You do get the one free recipe when you buy the restaurant, to use until you have enough funds for the others.
i have got all the medals except for culinarian and grand master. could someone please tell me if these are earned at the end of the game(total earned on all levels), or can you get this on any level?
Congrats on the medals so far! All medals are awarded as soon as you get them, so you know right away, and the 2 medals that you need, are earned for having 10,000, and 20,000 dollars on a level. Not the whole game, but on an individual level.
