======= I believe I have 231 recipes; 130 Patterns. =======
I found that when looking for those last elusive pets -- If I found myself in an area where I knew they were but they weren't showing up, I would save & quit to the main menu and then hit Play -- the area would repopulate with animals to charm. Saves wandering around charming to no effect. I definitely used a pet whose best feature was charming for eggs.

the Mx-9000 can usually be found in one of two places, either by the Professor, or by Mr Zee, both in the Grasslands, I hope this helps
Also the medal you are talking about, you have to have all the patterns, and recipes, that includes, clothing, tools, collars, bouquets and food, things like beakers, the boombox, did you buy all the recipes and patterns in both locations? that is how you will gain a great many of them, also keep digging and charming!

I got the tailor medal and the $100,000 medal, just need the collar one and the friends with everyone medal, only have one of the kids I'm working on. Oh and the all kinds of animals one, I have 37 pets...I've seen some of them but they won't give the egg and I'm using a pet that is supposted to get eggs. arrrggg Btw I found the MX9000 one. Thanks Suzy
Some news hot off the internet (lol)....after a bit of research, here's the deal and some answers to your questions...
The reason OrangeKnickers is training his pets is because his preview version requires him to do so. That made the game a bit too tedious and so in the final version, PF changed the requirement to only having your animals in the stable...
The instances where you click and "sell an item to yourself" occurs intentionally, although its not really "selling" it to yourself...it is just part of "wearing" an item. ANY time you click on yourself, you will wear the item. Whether you meant to or not. You can go into your inventory "closet", click the X and remove it.
The instances where you "sell the clothes off your back" is again intentionally, because you are clicking it that way...yes, you can run around WW in your undies if you want to. lol. Hope your underwear are clean! :P
The Entrepeneur Medal issue where it lists $1,000,000 on the PF site was an item that PF forgot to change from beta to final. The original medal was for 1,000,000 but they felt that it would be really tedious for some players, and changed it to 100,000. They are currently fixing the typo.
The medal for recipes is also only in the preview version. Due to having close to 200 recipes, again, they wanted all players to have fun and not find the game tedious, as well as the QA team would have had to beta test all 200 recipes, which is a lot of digging, so they removed it and didnt make completion of all recipes a requirement to finish game.
Loopia sometimes appears in the area around the volcano, that was my last one, and she DOES not like ti give up her eggs, so good luck with that one.
Chacha, is in the lower right area of the tropics, and only appears sometimes (like Loopia), I had to look around alot for it, but that is where it spawns.
Kababas, you don't need the egg and I am not sure where I found the other one, but I do KNOW that it was in the Tropics somewhere.
Thanks Cella, I did find Loopia and have tried charming that darned bird about 6 times but no egg. I think I'll search for Chacha instead. congratulations on getting all the medals.
*sigh* I still haven't got all the pets.. nowhere near! I guess I ought to stop trying to fill in the gaps in my pricing spreadsheets and actually try to finish the game before my time is up :)
Congratulations, CellaHorne, MV and Pinky! Knew you guys could do it! Fun to have a game that is really different -- altho' the end is rather drawn out. Someone said it isn't the same without quests -- which I compare to how I feel about the Chocolatier games without quests. They do make things more interesting!
