The magical land of Oz, as written by L. Frank Baum, is put through the gritty filter of 1940s film noir. Harsh city streets, grey rainy skies, femmes fatales, tough guys, trenchcoats, fedoras and plot twists. It's Oz, seen through the eyes of Raymond Chandler.
You are Petra. Emerald City's only private detective. One dark night, she is approached by a strange woman named Dee Gale. It appears Dee's fiancé is missing, and Dee is willing to pay high and above the going rate in order to find him. Lacking any other prospects, Petra agrees. What starts off as a simple missing person case soon takes Petra deep into the seedy underbelly of the Emerald City's criminal underground and beyond. She will encounter many characters both familiar and new, learn several magic spells, and uncover the answer to a dark secret that has haunted Petra all her life.

Really Gable??? I need a map for the dumb buttons, I finished the game this afternoon, but was missing like one button of each color to get the medal for them. thanks
oh geez...well they aren't for anything lol except for the pencil drawings and an abstract picture lol but yes which color? and do you remember which ones you got? there is one on top of a tower(or maybe just the sky??) in emerald city and then there is one...in the palace with tik tok...that i had to go back for.

Hmm not sure what to think about this game. The graphics was just beautiful tons of credit there for the game.
I got all the medals for the game expect the medal for defeating Mombi the first time and to be honest Im not sure If will go back and get that one or not, maybe one of these days when Im bored and want to go back and play it again.
It has a excellent story line, but that is the problem . Way to much storyline. It seems like I was reading or listening to them people talk more then actually playing the game . I think that is probably one of the biggest downfalls of the game.
If it hadnt been for the medals of this game, I would have probably just waited to see if Shockwave got it or maybe even BF.
Good game, but disappointed in the actual game play in the game Just like with HOG this game really isnt a replayable game either.
I would give the game a 8/10 . Eight because of all the reading you have to do and not actually playing the game. If it wasnt for the outstanding graphics and even though the storyline was long , it was a good storyline . Just to much of it . It would have been a lower score.

I can't remember exactly which ones I have, but I know I got the one in the sky and the one with tik tok. I'm missing one of each color I think.
arggg I just played the game over today and am still missing 1 green and 1 yellow button and I was really careful to check everything and go back to building I had already been in. I need a walkthrough....sheesh.
I did find the one in the Winkie window by accident which tells me that are not all easy to find. But to have to go through the whole game again and again is getting tiresome.
Oh Gable, thank you, thank you, thank you!!! You're a peach!! I missed the one in Shaggy's garage and the one on Glinda's tower. I didn't see one on the top, but I didn't walk around the area much. Will try again.
I bought the game today around noon. I finished it about 15 minutes ago (3:30pm). Granted, I probably could have extended the gametime if I didn't have the walk speed at max or clicked through most of the dialouge. But if I hadn't done so, I would have been BORED OUT OF MY MIND!!!!
On the plus side, I did enjoy the story, the graphics, sound, voiceovers & music were great. I liked having the options for "just a little hint" or being told "exactly what to do." I also liked that the game is based more on the Oz books than the movie (Dorothy's silver shoes are NOT a mistake!).
So if you have unused credits somewhere, a few hours to kill, & a desire for a story without having to read a pesky book, then give this game a try. If you're looking for a mystery to solve, try Nancy Drew or Agatha Christie.

Well there you go! A refreshing review and it makes sense to me. I happen to like the movie better, so I am skipping this one, but I did notice when it First Peeked that it was Frank L. Baum book driven, not MGM Grand movie driven. More real. And they got the silver slippers right! YAY!
You know what would be good along the same lines? A game based on Wicked by Gregory Macquire!
I think this type of game is doomed, too much storyline and not enough play, the only reason I played the silly thing 3 times was to get the damned buttons. I can't back away from getting all the bells and whistles.....and medals. :) I don't think I will sign up for another one like this one.
