1. Buy the biggest backpack you can afford and keep upgrading as you can afford. You don't want to be out in the wilds well away from stores and run out of room and have to sacrifice something you need!
2. Likewise, buy as many garden plots as possible. Never pass a garden area without planting something -- it will be there when you come back to harvest it later on. Upgrading your watering can makes everything grow quicker. I always planted my flowers alongside the garden areas.
3. Keep a list of the animals in your stables. You don't want to discard or sell an egg you may really want. Likewise you don't want to fill your inventory with eggs you don't need.
4. When you send your pet up to climb and retrieve something, "pawprint" 3-4 surrounding areas for him to dig when he gets down and then follow him around picking everything up.
5. When you receive a recipe or pattern and have the ingredients -- make it then! That way you don't have to search for recipes and clothes to make later where you might be missing ingredients.
6. Always keep basics like thread, ribbon, butter on hand in a fair quantity. Batteries, too, for teleporting. I tried to always keep a few breads, broths and piecrusts in my inventory, too.
7. I tried to "charm" the characters as I went along; after I did a task for them, I would give them something they liked, too. That way you're not running all over the map later trying to get your friendship level up.
8. I didn't waste my time trying to make a variety of everything I had recipes for when I was trying to get my dollars up. I chose a couple of high priced items like the Kimono and Iron Frying Pan and made batches of them to sell.
9. In the latter part of the game when you're trying to find those last elusive animals (and get their eggs!), when I was in an area where I knew I would find them I stayed in that area until I got the one or two I needed. If they weren't showing up -- or giving you the wrong thing -- I would quit out the main menu and then hit play again. That repopulates the area with animals and you can try again from there.
10. Some of the folks prefer savory items. The best things to make them are the soups when you find the receipes. Example Potato soup, tomato soup . That will really give you points .
11. You will be making alot of clothes in this game , especially for the lady in town that likes clothes. My best advice is always take the wool when you see it.
12. When you get the items to make your collars it helps to have the moving , nutrition, and charm collars. Moving will help you walk faster, Nutrition will help feeding your animal, and the last one Charm helps to get bigger charm points from the pets you are trying to charm. Always upgrade them when you can.
13. Always give your pet the cooked items he likes. If your pet likes Bananas. I always made Banana pudding and got 3,996 . Play with the different kinds of items to see what gives you the most points in feeding her/him
Some of these tips are pretty basic and may not need repeating here. And my approach may not work for those who enjoy taking their time and making all the recipes, patterns and bouquets. If not.... enjoy yourself, your way! That's the nice thing about this game -- you can really design the gameplay to suit yourself. Good luck!
