He's soooooooooo precious, DB!!!! I'd like to post my new baby too! And I also have 3 dogs and 5 cats (7 cats if you count my sons that live on the other side of the house where he rents from me).

Gable, I was thinking the same thing. It would be great to have a pet area here at HH. Latte could put up Darby too!!! scottie

Well ya know I guess I have lost too many brain cells when I was sick. I knew how to add topics lol now I can not for the life of me remember..so I will ask Latte tonight sorry ya'll

Oh see I forgot the other question...I have currently 2 dogs,3 cats,and some fish and 2 frogs. I stress currently!! That could change any moment.

Ok, I couldn't resist. Here he is! I take in strays too like Gable. Sometimes it seems we have an animal shelter going on here, lol! He was lost and no owners ever came to claim him. He's sooo sweet!!

awwww Titan is a real cutie, Pinky, you pooch is a real cutie too.

I have a huge yellow lab, 3 elderly cats, 2 birds, and a fish, plus all the outside critters I feed.

Such cuties, i do hope you put a place for us to show our pets and talk strategy for the animal games we play that would be awesome. I do so need help with pet shop hop i been trying to play that forever, but will wait for the place to ask my questions...lol we have a yorkie he is just over one yrs old and his name is Hokie Giants...of course if you are unsure about that name Hokie from VA tech and Giants of course the ny giants.. scottie

yes you have seen him over there, i have up to date pic but i couldnt find it on my computer . All the animals are so cute and Latte your puppy has the same bday as my twins. Happy bday Darby.

DB, you are posting in the Pet Forum silly head. No sucking up required, just ask when you want stuff. She is a blue merle Australian Shepherd.

And I'm upset with her on her bday bcuz she is TOO GOOD TO DO DOODIES in the snow for the 4th day in a row!!!!!! Arg! Just go for god's sake! But nooooooooooooo, she doesn't want to get her behind wet. She'd rather pull out of her collar and scamper down the sidewalk away from me and do a 2 on the dry sidewalk.....She likes to see her mommy go clean up her mess while she prances around all special like!!!

Grrrrrr! This is why I don't have kids.......

I know most of ya'll take your babies to a groomer...but I just have to say I love the new nail trimmer Pedi-Paws. I do my low maintenance dogs myself (even my high maintenance I did myself). But any way.. we saw this commercial and thought "hmm" that looks like a good thing." Since it hurts me, more than the dogs to cut their nails Hubby went out and bought me this gadget. I have to say the instructions were harsh"Hold pet down and file nails"nothing like they showed in the commercial. Well if you have a great dog who loves you and trusts you this gadget is great. Buddy and Boomer(who fell asleep while I did his) just lay there. We took the wand and let it m((Oops! Naughty Word))age them all over first,of course.To get used to the vibrating. And then just file. They say you can use it on cats too but I just use regular toe nail clippers for mine. The nail clippers always scared me because I really didn't want to get to close to the quik but with this gadget I don't worry about that.
I tell ya I have found a lot of good products just by walking in the Pet store and reading labels. With our Goldens we had a major problem with matting and shedding(I can't stand shedding). So I started using Brewers yeast/garlic/amino acid pills. OMG they are amazing!! No shedding(we did have to keep brushing and using the shedding comb because their coats were so thick and healthy) No fleas!! We got to stop using the flea drops.

When we picked up Boomer he was so dehydrated and skinny well the vet today was amazed in just the few weeks we have had him he has gained 15 pounds and his coat and skin is pink and so soft and healthy. Oh shoot forgot to mention BagBalm great for hotspots..or irritation(where they chew on themselves). Boomer has patches of skin(on his nose and hind legs) this is where I used it on him..but I would always use it on their bellys and ears..any "skin". Also on the pads of their feet especially after a long walk on asphalt or cement.
HMM I think I might take better care of my dogs than my kids???? Nah.

The reason I asked if Darby was an Austraian Shephard, was because I had a dog that was mixed Austraian Shephard. She lived at Denny's trucking garage, along with about 5 other animals, but she was really specail. She was wild and hanging near the shop, but wouldn't let anyone close to her, but I won her over with Big Mac;s and french fries, and she was one of the most loving, smartest dogs I have ever seen. Example..when the tractors trailors come in to park on the lot, the mechanic always has to go out in the road and stop traffic, so they can back in. As, he was usually working in something at the time, he would have a grease rag in his hand while he was holding up traffic. Shadow decided to help him, and every night when she heard the trucks coming she would go grab a grease rag out of the box, and stand in the road and hold up traffic. Denny's brother ran over her, and killed her instantly, I wasn't there at the time, and it's a good thing, cause I would have shot him...not dead, but in the foot or leg or such ( yes, I did have many fantasies of doing that..never liked him any way).Darby reminds me a LOT of Shadow...and btw..I don't blame her for not wanting to "go" in the snow..Come on, Mom, would you?? Gable I also have the Pedi-Paws. I have mixed feelings about it. I feel more comfortable using it then using regular trimmers because I know when to stop. But the sound that it makes freaks out the cats. Deuce (my dog) crys like a baby when I do his nails too. I've tried giving him treats and petting him while doing it, but he still crys. Lol. I will continue to use it on the dog though.

Don't give in to the whining!! lol that is a cope out keep using it lol i will download the pics of Buddy and boomer having their nails done.Boomer actually was a little scared the first time I was doing Buddys nails but next we did it when Boomer was laying down and snoozing he just rolled on his back and went back to sleep.

Gable, I bought the Pedi-Paws also but haven't used it yet. Glad to know you like it so much; sure I will too. But I'm very interested in the yeast/garlic/ amino acid concoction you spoke about. Can you please give more details? I've had issues with shedding on two of my dogs and the flea medicine we use is sooooooooo expensive. Is it something you give them orally??? I've never heard of this before. Can you use it for cats as well? You're like the walking pet encyclopedia, lol! Thanks for all the tips!! Who says the tips are all about games anyway, lol!

Oh pinky you ask about Dogs and Cats and some other pets and I can answer. Animals are my passion. I used to get the pills at Wal-mart for like 3$(200tabs) in the pet aisle.It is 1 tab per 10 pounds and yes you can give it to cats too.I just mix it in their food or sometimes as a treat.Boomer thinks they are treats.But I went to Pet-Smart and found a hug 1000tabs for 12$.
It is brewers yeast/vitamins/garlic. You will see a difference in their coats in just a few weeks and the fleas will diminish(fewer and fewer) in weeks..But that has always been with garlic tabs too. Starting in the spring right after the last frost we start treating the yard every 3 months with Cutter.When I did rescue we had a parvo outbreak and used Bleach and water mixture(it didn't kill the grass) and found it really got rid of the mosquitos and fleas. But any way after that we started using cutter to treat...and Knock on wood nothing...we did have a break out of fleas in the house this winter but that had nothing to do with my animals(we had house guests..when they left they left their little friends too). But that has been taken care of...
Concerning the Pedi-paws...before you use it massage the dog with it a few times let him see it is just a nosy thing...but that it won't hurt him,leave it running sometimes so he can get used to the noise. Also can you use the vacuum on your dogs? Put the vacuum in another room and take the extension with the brush on it and "brush" them. Buddy loves that.
I know I am rambling sorry.

After your Shi-zu(bad word had to shorten it) has been groomed do you still use a shedding brush/comb on him? Since they do have the thick under coat?

We also have the pedi paws. Hokie will let you do his nails but he moves around alot, he's not scared just doesnt lay still.
