Question about Contributing

to the cost of the chat room.  I clicked on the link to do so and see that my choices are either a check or a credit card.  I've never heard of SparkLit (is that right?) and was wondering--is it safe and secure to use my credit card at this site?  I really wish they took paypal.

BTW, I hope this is the right place to post this question.  Sorry if not!

Cinaberry I checked the security certificate on the credit Card site..it is at the Highest encryption security you can get....If you would like to check that out ..click the pad lock somewhere(mine is on the bottom by the Starlight name) then click security and it will give you the details. I tried to copy and paste but it wouldn't allow that. I hope this helps

I have a question too. There doesn't seem to be any information regarding payment from other countries ie. exchange rates etc. I don't want to comit myself until I know what the charges will be. Most sites go by current exchange rates but unfortunately others charge over the odds. I know, I was caught out once before!

Thanks Gable but I wanted to use a credit card. I had problems with PayPal and cancelled my account. I could send a cheque but I guess they wouldn't accept it in pounds sterling!

I like PayPal for some things--especially when I am not sure if I should completelytrust a particular site. I one had a huge chunk of money stolen from my checking account and I believe it was a gaming site that did it so I try to be careful.

With PayPal they already have your checking account number so when you want to buy something from someone who takes paypal, paypal pays them directly and they never receive your credit card numbers or debit card numbers (only PayPal has access to that).

I've had a PayPal account for 5 years and have not had a single issue with them.

Cinaberry. It is starting to become unpopular here in the UK as so many of us have had problems in the last year. Maybe ours is different to yours in some way.

Oct 2008 3,778 page views
Nov 2008 15,150 page views
Dec 2008 36,856 page views
Jan 14,443 page views (lol...and we're only 5 days in! Yikes)

So, I checked out the Chat Room...actually I was wrong...it's $4.95 per month if we only have 10,000 page views per month...however, at the rate we are going...724 views per day/53 users= what?......we would be at what potentially?

10,000 views $4.95 $4.95
25,000 views $4.95 $9.95
50,000 views $4.95 $14.95
100,000 views $4.95 $21.95
150,000 views $4.95 $32.95
200,000 views $4.95 $43.95
250,000 views $4.95 $54.95
375,000 views $4.95 $73.95
500,000 views $4.95 $88.95
750,000 views $4.95 $119.95

You pay $4.95 for showing 10,000 page views. Extra usage is charged at $0.0005 per page view.

lol what the heck is .0005...is that like a pence or something???? So I'm thinking we could easily hit 250,000 views potentially...not right now though, you guys will probably exceed 50,000 though this month.

That's not too bad. $60/month for calm, peaceful, relaxation away from drama...aaaah,....I think I'll go make myself a Malibu Hypnotiq Pineapple drink....with a long bendy straw and parasol. lol.

Or I should get back to work so I can pay for this darn thing! lol.....looks at Ljot...Honey Buns, you'll work as a Greeter at Walmart if I need you to, won't you??

*bats eyelashes furiously*

Sorry to hear that you in the UK have had issues with PayPal -- I'm on eBay quite a bit (Christmas shopping, etc.) and use PayPal all the time -- and feel more protected.

The only issue I have with them is their policy of, when you get a refund (say you double-paid a seller) they give you a credit to your PayPal account to use instead of depositing it in your checking account.  That bums me out.
==========
Thanks for the further info on the Chat Room feature, Latte.  It'd be great to have one and I plan on making a contribution.  Well worth it.
