As long as the site remains drama free, I think this is a nice feature. However, if any drama creeps in, doncha think that being able to delete posts would just contribute to the drama?
Maybe a moot concern since you're moderating so tightly, but nevertheless, a concern of mine. I know from my blogging experiences that people have often deleted their comments in "argumentative" threads, and that's actually a pretty bad thing, imho.
I doubt we'll have argumentative threads. But if we do, the mods will still be able to see any deleted post as it appeared before it was deleted. They'll know what transpired, and I'm sure they'll delete any other posts left standing that contribute drama or make someone look bad.
I hope that made sense. The tadpole is requiring more effort than I thought!

HI sonbanon. Trust me, we talked about that. But Alevy is right. Unlike other forums where they apparently can't see or keep up with deleted threads that easily, our forum logs all posts even deleted ones. We can very quickly see EVERYTHING!! Woo Hoo! Yay activeboard! This is the best forum template I could find when I tried several out before announcing site and it has the most amazing admin abilities and features...even more than some of the forums that cost a ton! So yay us!
And, as you noted, with 4 mods and an admin feature run by two of us, and a behind the scenes tracking of "teeny tiny incidents" which keep our team in the loop, we're staying drama free.
Plus, our TOS has a two strikes you're out rule. Naughty once, shame on you, naughty twice, the SMITE BUTTON gets you! lol.
*looks at Rob holding the Smite Button.* (((((shivers)))))
Thanks for the reply and update about this. I don't mean to be the naysayer and poo poo the delete button, just wanted to express my concern (albeit a moot one)....
Sonbanon, I had the same concerns and asked the same questions. The great thing about HH is that we can discuss these types of issues without causing a major theatrical production. Isn't it wonderful?
