Plants versus Zombies

Ok, I never thought I'd even try this game because the zombies are just so........  freaky?  Is that the word? lol.  But I got bored one day and decided to play just the demo, and I've been hooked on it ever since.  It's so hilarious from Crazy Dave's remarks to the actual zombie challenges, and of course the music video at the end.  And the game just goes on and on and on....  Sorry I haven't been around much lately but the zombies kidnapped me and we're having a blast!  This game has so much replayability, it's unbelievable.  Once you finish Adventure Mode there are two more sections.  One is with Mini-Games and I think there are 18 in all.  You have to win each one consecutively to unlock the next.  When you finish that, there are endless adventures in Survival mode, all with different scenarios which get increasingly difficult, but not impossible.  Again, you unlock the next mode by winning the current challenge.  All the while, in all three modes you earn cash to be used on upgrades, or spend on  your very own Zen Garden.  The upgrades significantly enhance the gaming experience in a way I've never experienced before.  And just when I thought it couldn't get any better I found out in the Gamezebo forums last night that when you replay Adventure Mode the 2nd time around the game changes.  There are several new zombies that appear which are not found in the first playthrough, so I thought that just topped it off and made this a really awesome game.  If you  need a good laugh this is definately a game that will have you rolling on the floor. You  can type in words during a level, such as the word 'future' and all the zombies are wearing sunglasses, another word gives them mustaches, another word makes them dance, etc. etc.  It's all listed at GZ.  The game is available at BFG for only $6.99 without a membership, and at Gamehouse as well.   So if anyone ask where I 've been lately, just tell them the zombies got me, lol.

Hi Pinky-
I'm glad you are enjoying the game. I have to agree with you. I also tried this game when I was bored one day and I'm glad I did. I bought it as soon as my demo was over. It's a great game, in fact it's one of the best games I've played in a long time.
See you around!

You've got me intrigued, Pinky!  This is a game I'll definitely try -- after the WD3 challenge, no doubt!  lol.

I'm stuck on 3.9. The first level with zamboni machine. Not sure why. Must be using the wrong combo of items. Problem is mostly in the pool. The pea shooters dont work in the pool because the swimmers are below their shooting, therefore they dont shoot until its too late. So I put lily pad with zombie cruncher, which worked fine but they are still getting thru when its mouth is full, so I put 2 zombie crunchers...and some of that plant that drags them under the water....and I bought the pool cleaner...and they are still getting thru. This is the level where the swimmers dont start until the second wave,....so I should have time to fortify, but for some reason...the zombies ate my brains.

Latte-
I use the chilli peppers on those guys. It gets rid of the ice and takes out the whole row of zombies. I hope you have you have already. That takes care of them;)

Oh, duh. I was being an idiot. I finally got it. Had wrong combo of defense. One of these days I will stop overthinking things.

I just finished Adventue mode for the second time.  If you need anymore help, let me know.  I've gotten some great tips and strategy from posters at GZ, and one poster even posted a bunch of links to screen shots that are amazing.  My Zen Garden is finally getting huge as well.  The upgrades that Crazy Dave sells do help alot also. Wish we could have a challenge on this game but there's really no score except for the cash you earn but you really have to spend it on upgrades to keep going in the game.

Also, buy the rake for $200 in the shop.  It lasts for three levels and takes out the first zombie that arrives, giving you a little longer to build your defense.  I use the potato land mine to take the ones that follow the first one, until a defense is built but you have to plant it at least 3 patches in front of him so it has time to arm itself. I got these tips from Wolfbrother at GZ.

Yeah, I've long been a fan of the potato mine. lol. Those darn zambonis....arg. On 3.9, I went down because I had one zamboni and two bob sleds show up all at the same time near end of level. No time to defend them all. Luckily found out that the potato mine takes them down but doesnt get rid of the ice...need that darn chili pepper as mrey said.  lol.  I'm on 4.something now, cant remember.

I have the 3 mini game trophies that I have access to at this point...

I am using the cheapest defenses to get thru the night...my other issue on 3.9, is I tried using one of the expensive ones and by the time I built up to being able to afford it, level was almost over...now I'm speeding thru using the zero cost mushrooms and floaty in the pool ones. :)

I tried making them dance but it said I didnt have the tree of wisdom yet...where is it??? I want them to DANCE!!! lol...does anyone have a list of the codes?

Go take a quick look at the GZ walkthrough.  It lists all of the codes and whether or not you need the Tree of Wisdom to use them.  Some of them require the tree to be a certain height before they will work.  It also says that sometimes they work without the Tree of Wisdom if you're lucky.  It's kind of random.  I would not recommend buying the Tree of Wisdom yet.  The fertilizer it needs to grow is $2500 a pop, and you can read the tips it gives you at GZ for free.  The money is more well spent on upgrades.  Be sure to use the rake on every level.  It gives you a head start with building your defense.  I always use the cat tails on all pool levels, protected by tallnuts on lily pads.  They are quite expensive but shoot on water and land and have a fast kill rate.  You also don't need to use alot of the cheaper plants when you have them.  To use them do this:  use the rake to take out the first zombie.  Plant 4 sunflowers in back row near mowers. Buy lily pad, place in water in spot second row from mowers.  Place a mine in the lane the next zombie is coming down.  Buy cat tail and place on lily pad.  Use another mine for next zombie.  Buy another sun flower, then another cat tail.  Protect them with tall nuts  from middle of pool to front as soon as possible.  Use the sea kelp if needed before you get the tall nuts. Keep adding cat tails in front of other ones.  I leave one spot open at rear of pool in case I need to use a chili pepper.  Add other land defense if needed.  The tall nuts on land will slow down the faster zombies so the cat tails can do more damage.  I also bought the upgrade that allows you to place a new tall nut right over a badly damaged one before it is completely gone.  This upgrade also works on the pumpkins as well.    I keep a squash available for early in the level when the mine may not be charged in time to kill the first few zombies before your defense is completely built.

Here's my Zen Garden thus far.  As you can see I have several duplicates and only one spot left so I'm getting ready to sell the duplicates and buy the environment for the mushrooms so they'll wake up and grow.  As you can see they're sleeping, and not growing, lol.

It looks great Pinky! Unfortunately, my fiance took over my first username and my Zen Garden. I had to start all over. I have a few mini games to finish up and I still have to go through advanture mode for the second time. I'm glad you are having such a good time with it! See you around.

p.s. Thanks for posting about the GZ tips. They were great, I tried out a few of the codes yesterday. This game has a lot of surprises.

This was one of the most unique games I've played in a long, long time. I paid nearly full price for it (I think PopCap was running a 20% off promo when they first release) and it was worth every single penny!

I like using the corn chuckers. The butter stick stops the Zombie for a few seconds.

I think I got the Zen garden when I bought a plant from Crazy Dave.

If you buy the little brown thing (sorry don't remember the name, it's worth $75, I think) you can buy the mushrooms and magnets. Plant them and then out the little thing on top of it to wake it up, Also, use the tall nuts, they can't pogo over them. i hope that makes sense.

Hi not sure if anyones playing anymore but this may help someone! lol hiya
Ive found the key to a lot of the survivial modes is to get the winter watermelon you woudnt think you would have the money but you do it fends them off so much you dont need to keep re planting! Also on the other hard level with all the boats and zombonie drivers you buy the metal upgrade for the tire poppers it lasts forever once you put the silver on and that saves time and money since the single one only lasts once. hope this helps someone hugs caroline
