Big Fish Games Drops Prices

http://forums.bigfishgames.com/posts/list/33794.page

As I don't have a BFG membership, I'm not sure if this matters....You guys tell me!!

And this next link is something else I've been thinking about lately.  BFG has been building other sites in other countries.  Gamezebo recently added Edit Posts, and some other cool features to their forum.  And PF is....???? making the bottom of every single darned page of their forums way too busy, answering repetitive questions from children who don't have credit cards, and asking their affiliates to recode their sites for the second time in 6 months?? Seriously?
*pokes self in eye repeatedly*  lol.

I hope Carfixer also posts his notes about GameLab here as well....I thought it was very interesting.

wow very interesting !!. Now everybody can buy games for 6.99 no membership or anything .  I have to say that is a very sound business move on BF's part .  Right now they are the cheapest place on the net to buy games especially since u dont need a membership anymore very interersting !!

IMO I think this will put a very big hurtin on PF now.  PF still charges you 9.99 a game .  PF will need to do something to stay alive .  yes, pf puts out the best TM games but they dont put out enough what one or two a month.  Those one or two a month games isnt enough to keep people interested in spending 9.99 per month on games, PF exclusives yes I would pay that because they are the best around imo, but Im not going to spend 10 bucks at PF for another person's TM game when I can now get it at PF for 7 bucks that would be very silly imo

BF just increased their sales majorily !!

This is very cool news.... thanks for sharing!  Makes it much more likely that I will visit BFG much more often, and not consider canceling my membership there.  I think SteelerFan is right -- PF is going to hafto do something to sweeten the pot!

I agree cruzer, PF is going to have to do something to stay in competition if not they will slowly be closing their doors to the gaming world . You just compete against BF every day games at 6.99.

PF will need to do one of two things or both imo again.

1. drop their prices to 6.99 per game so loyal PF customers will stay at PF and buy games there.

2.  PF starts putting out more games that belong to them every month not just one or two a month .

Bf just got me back as a customer again.  Granted, I havent bought many games from them lately because of the HOG's they are putting out, but now I can get any game for 6.99 very sweet.

Im very curious as to why they did this ?  Was it people cancelling their memberships to much over the recent months ?

Very interesting articles, Latte, thanks!!  I've remained a 'true blue' BFG customer but I did go on the 'lite' membership plan a few months ago where they only bill me every other month.  But still can buy games for $6.99 at any time even the month they don't bill me.  They never advertised this but offered it to me when I sent an email question to support, unrelated to the membership price.  So I jumped on it.  I was buying 2 to 3 games a month there but haven't in a while just because I dont care much for the new games coming out right now.  Even the new tm games suck.  I've tried several of them free from Gamehouse, and dont really mind the ads.  I guess that's also why I don't buy so many from BFG anymore.

I bought the Playpass and kept it for 2 months then cancelled.  I rejoined just to buy DTT and will buy WD3 with it then probably cancel it again.   I noticed now they are offering medals on some non PF exclusive games.  Hoping to up their sales I'm sure.

I wonder what difference it will really make though. If they aren't putting out good games, is it worth it to pay $6.99 for a bad game...or a "just ok" game? And some of the people in the forum didn't seem too pleased to no longer have "privileges" of membership, while others seemed thrilled. As I've found out here, you certainly can't make everyone happy all the time...Maybe they will be using some of those millions to put out good games soon. Like I said, I don't have a membership, so I'm just going on what you all said.

I also wonder if its because of so many people dropping their membership....I know I've heard quite a lot of you saying that for months now.

Where's MargieB when we need to ask her!!?? lol. Hopefully she will stop by and give us some insight.

I really think BF will see a big income from this Latte.  Now you dont have to become a member to get a game for 6.99.  That is going to be their selling point right there.

Nobody is going to pay 20 bucks for a game or even 10 if they can get it somewhere cheaper. Unless if you are like me and like the medals from PF and the global high scores then I would pay the 10 just for PF games only.

I could be reading this wrong, but according to Picman there will be privilages for members they just havent released alot of them perks yet.  He said within the up coming weeks, Im very curious to see where this heading.

BF could put alot of these smaller companies out of business or force companies like PF to drop their prices to stay competitive.  I can understand them doing this , smart on their part.

IF BF starts putting out more variety of games instead of just HOG's all the time they are going to multiply their business especially since there is no contracts involved now.

Ok, so I did get an email from BF this morning.  Steeler, as you suggested last night, they put me from the 'lite' plan (billed every other month) into the new One Membership plan, and seems I will now be billed every month again, which I don't want because I haven't used my last credit from 2 months ago yet.  The perks they are listing for current members is the ability to get tomorrow's game today, the premium customer service live chat, and the gifts they mail out like Felix the stuffed fish.  Personally I think the customer service live chat should be available to all customers who buy any games from them.  I'll probably cancel since I can now buy their games at any time for $6.99  now.  They also said more new perks to be announced soon. I was bored last night and browsed their inventory for a new game to buy and couldn't find one I was interested in, so I won't be spending money there 'just cuz' they're only $6.99,  Truthfully though there are a few games I got free at Gamehouse that I would've probably bought at BFG like The Great Chocolate Chase, Amelie's Cafe, Hospital Hustle.  These are games that I wouldn't have paid full price for but I got them free and it has cost BF some of my business (and saved me money at the same time). I'll wait to see what their new perks are before I cancel but I doubt it would be enough to persuade me to keep get billed when they don't have even one game per month that I want.  Problem is I've already bought all the tm games they have that I was interested in, lol.  But I'm sure they will be getting alot of business from customers that never had a membership account there before.

Gamezebo's email this morning has an article in it regarding Gamelab if anyone is interested in reading that.  I'm headed there now.

I think BFG's idea is a short-lived solution.  There are only so many games I really don't want (but will buy) out there.  The developers are still missing the point.  If they would produce interesting, quality games I wouldn't mind spending $20.  Until they start doing that their sales are going to bottom out again.
