What'cha reading?

Know that saying "An apple a day will keep the doctor away"?
Well, I believe a book a day keeps a mind healthy and sane!
If you all don't mind I will list the current books I am reading and please if you have any books to suggest please do so!  I discovered a great place to get free books!! It is called the PUBLIC LIBRARY!! Yes I know it has always been there hiya. I used to visit the library a lot when I was a kid but got out of the habit as I got older and just bought my books at the stores. Then I found out if you visit the library and get a pin number you can reserve books online and have them delivered to the library closest to you(or the one you prefer). Even not yet released books can be reserved!!
So I subscribed to the new release  and best seller list at Barnes and Noble(book store) and then go to the library link and reserve them!
Of course if they are a series I try to get the 1st book and work my way down to the newest release. Currently I am reading 2 series and have reserved a 3rd series.
Just a side note I read anything and everything!!
And Yes I have read the Twilight series already! But have plans to Buy them and read again!

Gable -- The Evanovich Stephanie Plum books are hysterical!  Very easy to get hooked on -- and quick reads.  I love 'em.  They're a lot of fun -- the characters are too funny.  Hope you enjoy!

P.S.   I am currently reading "The Appeal" by John Grisham, which I got for Secretarys' Day from my attorneys.

Finger Lickin' Fifteen? Plum Lovin'????

lmao, are you reading *cough* nPaOuRgNhty novels gable?? lol. Good god woman!

I'm on my 3rd historic fiction, Regency England this time, on my Kindle...I gotta get you one of these things...they are great....

*off topic*

lol. I just looked over. Darby is pouncing on her Little Lamb that I got her at World Market. They have the softest stuffed animals there in the kid's toy area. She is crouched down and has her hind end in the air waiting for it to respond I guess. One of the lamb's ears is completely gray and smelly no matter how many times I wash it. Darby just likes licking the one ear I guess. No idea why.

I'm reading Meridon.

It is the first book (I believe) that Philippa Gregory wrote. She also wrote The Other Boleyn Girl and The Boyelyn Inheritance. I read The Other Boyelyn Girl before the movie came out and I'm glad I did. I wouldn't have read the book after seeing that movie;) I guess I'm kinda into fictional history stories.

Then everyone once in a while I pick up Walden. Reading that book has been a work in progress for a few months now.

LMAO!! Latte I haven't started that series! But I can honestly say right now that Debbie Macomber is my favorite Author!! I just finished Twenty Wishes(Blossom Street series and wow(her books are not sexual in the least they are just wonderful stories) I haven't read any of Evanovich's books yet(that I can recall anyway) The Cedar Cove books have arrived at the library so I will finish that series this weekend!! Then I will read the first one in the Plum series to see if it hooks me.

Hopefully the storms are coming to an end this weekend. I need the sun!! But great reading weather!

I'm catching up on my Grisham too cruzer. I just finished The Last Juror and am reading The Appeal.
I am also re-reading The Outsiders and Drums, Girls, and Dangerous Pie (books assigned to students).
Finally, I am reading Twilight again. I love the series and must read them all over again.

Has anyone else read The Host? It is not part of the Twilight series, but it is by the same author. I thought I would hate it, but I thought it was perfectly written.

I read the excerpt of The Host before the final release. But I am not in that frame of mind right to read the whole book. When I read it I was reminded of the SG1(sci-fi channel) show. BUT I will get to reading the whole thing eventually.

Now that I have found a book store that sells used books for like 25 cents to 1.00 I need to join some kind of recommended book club, 'cause I have no idea what is good these days :P

I do need to finish the Twilight series, I've read the first 2. ( and oh my I rented the movie for a 1.00 it was.....not good) I just finished Memoirs of a Geshia and I may go ahead and read the Harry Potter series next, so behind, lol. As of right now though I am attempting to read A brief history of space and time by Stephen Hawkins with Carl Sagon's Cosmos after that. (If I can through it that is, it mostly goes over my head as they are my husband's books, but what I can understand is pretty interesting)

Right now I'm reading Carloyn Hart's Death on Demand Series.

I love Nora Roberts Books. I found her JD Robb furtistic cop series that is set in New York great reads. I'm waiting (impatiently) on the next one out.

Latte, I keep looking at the kindle. One day I going to take the plunge and buy it. I heard they are great.

Gable, just so you know that in most librarys they have audible books online that you can listen to. You need a valid library account and the aduio program called overdrive media. You could check with you libarary and see if they have that service.

(hmmm this is probably why my games scores are not so hot; I usually listen to a audiobook while playing lol)

Gable, I do the same thing except I use a site called fantasticfiction.co.uk/
I browse this site about once a month and then reserve all my books on-line at my public library. The nice thing about this site is that it tells me what books are coming up months in advance so I can get on the wait list at my library right away even before the book has been released.

Right now I am reading the James Patterson Alex Cross series--I missed a couple so I am going back to read them before the next one comes out.

I do not care for audiobooks. There is just something about the feel of a book in my hands.

I am always in the middle of several books. Right now I'm reading:

1. B*tch in the House (short essays about the "stresses" related to womanhood, rated R)
2. B@st@rd on the Couch (short essays about the "stresses" related to manhood, rated R)
3. The Nanny Diaries (I probably won't finish this as it's not holding my attention)
4. Amateur Marriage (I

Also, Alevy, if you are looking for some light but interesting reads, try Jodi Picoult. I read her entire works last year. Sadly, they do all kind of get the same after a while, and her newer books are better than the old. Even so, she poses some thoughtful moral dilemmas time and again, yet all of the books are definitely easy to read "on the fly" (nice for busy people :)). I'd start with My Sister's Keeper.

I swear I don't think I have ever laughed so much when reading a book(s). I have laughed through each book yes they contain some drama but I swear the laughs are what makes these great books. Short books, easy reading but...

I have laughed so hard with book 9 I thought I was gonna cry...Just a side note here skip "Vision of Sugar Plums"(read between 8 and 9) it really is not needed in the series...Evanovich should have just dropped that script in the trash but hey what do I know...okay on to 10 sorry pain keeping me awake tonight need distraction...

No problem. I'm only about two chapters in so it might be a little while. I so wish I had more time to read and I wish I didn't have to waste some of my reading time on textbooks...lol. Let me know if you find anything interesting.

Hey Gable,

The Host is actually worth reading. I don't know how many times I read the cover and put it back. Then the school librarian asked me to read it to see if it was okay to sell in our Book Fair. It is not written specifically for teens.

I do not like sci-fi at all, so I was sure I would hate it. I read it all over a weekend and really enjoyed it. I would say the premise is probably familiar, but the storytelling perspective is unique. It takes about 30 pages to really make any good sense.
It's great social commentary without whacking you over the head with it.
The characters were well thought out, and the ending was perfect in my opnion.

I have all my fav writer's websites and newletter alerts so I know when their new books are coming out.

I then go online and reserve them before they are even on the shelf at the library.

Has any one tried Diane Mott Davidson? She is hilarous.  If you like lega thrillers you could try LInda Fairstain.

I also like Lori Wick for anyone looking for a contempory Christian writer.

Since my reading time is often interrupted these days, I've gone back to familiar short stories. Right now I'm reading The Complete Sherlock Holmes. Once I'm through those I'll start with Nabokov's short stories.

I just finished reading #17 in my current favourite author's main series of books..

"Skin Trade" (an Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter novel) by Laurell K Hamilton.

I also love her "Meredith Gentry" novels.

I am now reading "Triptych" by Karin Slaughter for the second time.
