I had a hard day in Kindergarten, okay?? I was sleepy. 3 whole hours of make believe and coloring are EXHAUSTING. So I took a little nap on the bus on the way home.... Several hours later, I wake up to find I am still in the school bus, in the school bus parking lot, all by myself. WHERE IS EVERYBODY!!?? Darned if they didn't leave my ass here! I'm LITTLE!! PAY ATTENTION ADULTS!!! Grrrrrr.

Fortunately, right about then, the school principal figured out where I might be and came and got me....I wasn't embarrassed though. I was right where I was supposed to be, on the school bus after school.

Years later, my mom and the principal told me that they thought I had been kidnapped. When I didn't arrive home, a phone chain went to all the other parents of the school to see if I got off at a bus stop with their children. When that didn't work, they called the Philadelphia FBI. Right before they arrived to take the missing child report, the principal had one last thought and headed for the bus.

The bus driver's excuse was that her daughter was getting married and she was in a hurry to get to the wedding rehearsal that day, and never checked the bus after her run. Too bad for her, I was sitting in the front seat.....

I have quite a few of those. I have always been clumsy, even more so when I was little. My Mom has told me that she used to watch me from the window as I would walk to school which was right across the street. She said there were plenty of times where I would just be walking and out of the blue fall down. I also remember running face first into a street sign.

Another time I was playing on the monkey bars when we lived on base. All of the houses were attached and went around in a rectangular shape so we all shared one big backyard. I was the only one on the playground, but one of my neighbors was doing something behind his house. Being the daredevil that I was, I was swinging and hanging and flipping and the next thing I know I land head first on the ground. Not that soft stuff that kids have nowadays. My neighbor ran over, scooped me up and brought me home. I had to sit on the couch with a bag of ice on my head. My Mom wouldn't let me go to sleep for a long time.

A different incident that also took place on the monkey bars: My friend, another neighbor girl and I were out playing. My friend was on the ladder part and the neighbor was on the other side ladder. I was on the ground behind the neighbor waiting for her to move so I could climb up. My friend and the girl were arguing (who knows what about, we were all 6-8 yrs old). For some reason I suddenly bit the girl on the ankle. I still don't know why. Maybe defending my friend, maybe trying to get her to move. She cried out and I ran home. A little while later when I heard a knock at the door I ran and hid in my room. It was the girls Dad telling my Mom what happened. I knew I was in trouble, lol. Moral of the story: Don't annoy Summer.. she bites.

I was gonna respond to this thread last nite but when I saw DB's I just couldn't.  So sorry, DB, but it turned my giggle box upside down! lol.  Seriously, though, that must've been horrific!!! I'm sure no one can top that one!!

My most embarrassing moment, like Latte, happened in kindergarten.  We were out on the playground at recess.  A beautiful spring day.  For some reason (and I still don't know why) I was terrified of big dogs.  Had no reason to be as I had never been bitten or attacked by any dog of any size.  Maybe because I was so little, and they were sooooo big.  We had never owned a dog as a pet either.  Well this HUGE black dog decided to come and join us for recess.  He was running around all excited, trying to play with kids.  He wasn't even really close to me but when I saw him I immediately panicked.  The school doors were propped open and I made a mad dash for the door, screaming like a Banchee.   My classroom was the first one inside the door (Thank Goodness!) and I ran in there and somehow managed to crawl up into a high windowsill.  The windowsill was about 5 inches wide so it was just enough room for me to 'hide', or so I thought.  The window sill was about 4 ft from the floor and I still don't know how I got up there, but I did.  Well......guess who thought I was trying to play chase?  He ran right in behind me and I got into the windowsill just in the nick of time.  He kept jumping up at me and I kept screaming like I was dying.  I just knew he was going to eat me alive, lol.  My teacher had followed the dog inside, found me in the windowsill, shoo-ed the dog back outside, and proceeded to harshly scold me for running inside.  If she only knew how deathly afraid I had been.  She had to call my Mother and send me home for the day as I was so traumatized.  I remember this like it happened just yesterday.  I often wonder about that teacher's lack of compassion.  All I needed was a hug, someone to wipe away my tears and tell me I was safe. Somewhere along the way I got over my fear of big dogs.  I've owned several and currently have an 80lb Pittmix that I love dearly.
